PSNI officer gets 100 hours community service for expenses fraud

A police officer who submitted false expenses claims has been sentenced to 100 hours community service and ordered to repay £828.34 to the PSNI.
David Lowe, 35, whose address was given as PSNI Enniskillen, admitted 15 charges of fraud between March 2013 and April 2014.
The court was told that the officer had exaggerated the mileage on some journeys.
He also submitted claims for journeys that he did not make.
Lowe’s solicitor told Enniskillen Magistrates Court that his client was apologetic and remorseful and would face consequences for his actions beyond what the court would impose.
The district judge said it was a sad state of affairs that a serving police officer had found himself in this position.
He said it was a serious breach of trust, but accepted that Lowe’s expressions of embarrassment and remorse were genuine.
