It’s all in a day’s work for a local student as he delved into a work experience position in the Kidderminster based office with a bang.
Alex Prescot 17, who attends Stourport High School and Sixth Form Centre joined the team at Fleet Innovations for a week at the end of his school academic year.
Alex fitted in nicely with the team and within a couple of hours he was doing what he enjoyed best writing and researching on topics he never dreamed of before – Mileage capture, Electric Vehicles, The Ozone layer to name a few. Alex who intends going to university in 12 months’ time to study English literature and Journalism really showed his enthusiasm and flair of writing in the pieces that we published on our website.
The work experience placement was organised by Matt Tope through the Worcestershire Skills Central site and the Connecting Schools and Business programme that works with schools, young people and employers across Worcestershire to offer supported work placements to help Worcestershire’s young people make informed careers choices.
This programme helps to ensure that Worcestershire’s young people are fully aware of the skills, qualifications and that they obtain the practical work experience that employers are looking for from their future employees.
Katie O’Regan Sales Consultant at Fleet Innovations said this, ‘We were delighted to have Alex with us on work experience, it’s a great opportunity for him to learn valuable skills and to see how the day to day running of an office is really like. It is a wonderful programme to get involved in and the team are always on hand to answer any questions, we are delighted to be able to give back into the local community in a completely different educational way.’
